Introduction

Welcome to the Havering Mental Health Needs Assessment 2024–26.  This web page provides access to two key documents:

  • Babies, Children & Young People Emotional Wellbeing Needs Assessment (Currently underway)
  • Havering Adult Mental Health Needs Assessment (AMHNA)

Together, these assessments offer a detailed understanding of mental health and emotional wellbeing needs across the Havering population. They are designed to inform decision-making, shape service delivery and support long-term strategic planning.

Before you explore, we recommend reading the introduction below to help set the context. You can then use the navigation menu on the right to explore different sections.

Please note: The BYCP Emotional Wellbeing Needs Assessment is currently in development. The completed version will be uploaded here as soon as it is available.

Setting the Scene

Mental health and emotional wellbeing are essential to overall health and quality of life. A life course approach helps identify key risk and protective factors at every stage of life—from infancy to older age.

As outlined by the UK Government’s public health framework, this approach recognises that health and wellbeing are shaped by biological, behavioural and social factors throughout life. In the context of mental health, this approach prioritises early intervention and prevention from preconception through to later life.

By targeting the building blocks of good mental health and wellbeing—such as housing, education, employment, income and social connectedness—we can work to reduce inequalities and build resilience at every stage of life. This preventative framework shifts the focus from reactive treatment to proactive support, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions that promote lifelong emotional wellbeing. Learn more about this approach here.
